"Violence Erupts at Washington Music Festival: Two Dead, Three Injured in Campground Shooting"
On Saturday night, violence erupted at a campground near the Gorge amphitheater in Washington state, resulting in the tragic deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others. The incident took place during the Beyond Wonderland EDM music festival, while performances were still ongoing inside the venue. One of the injured individuals apprehended by law enforcement was identified as a suspect.
During a press conference held in the nearby town of George at 11:30 p.m., a representative from the sheriff's office confirmed the two fatalities but refrained from disclosing the identities of the victims or those injured, as the investigation was still ongoing. The spokesperson stated that upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers confronted the suspect, who continued to randomly fire into the crowd before being taken into custody. No details were provided regarding the extent of the shooter's injuries or the conditions of the two survivors.
The sheriff's representative stated that certain aspects of the shooting investigation could not be disclosed at that time, but in response to a reporter's question, it was mentioned that no motive was known at the moment.

Prior to announcing the arrest of a suspect, the sheriff's office initially tweeted that an "active shooter" was present at the location and urged everyone at the Gorge to seek shelter. However, it seemed that few concertgoers inside the venue received this message.
The festival's Twitter account referred to the incident in a vague manner in its initial tweet, advising people to avoid the Gorge Gate H campgrounds due to an incident that had been resolved by local authorities. The tweet assured festival attendees that there was no immediate danger to them or to the campgrounds.
According to sources reported by Fox3 News in Seattle, the suspect allegedly targeted the staff, although this aspect was not addressed during the press conference.
Beyond Wonderland is a two-day EDM festival featuring numerous performers. Many of the expected 27,000 attendees each day choose to stay at the on-site campground since there are limited accommodation options within a 45-minute radius, and the Gorge is approximately a three-hour drive from the nearest cities, Seattle and Spokane.
Security measures at the Gorge campground entrances include vehicle checks with explosives-sniffing dogs, while metal detectors are only utilized when concertgoers leave the campgrounds and enter the venue.
The festival lineup for the two days includes artists such as Marshmello, Afrojack, Dillion Francis, Joyryde, Subtronics, Hyperfunk, DJ Alex Bosi, Audien, Zomboy, Nitti, Pauline Herr, Remk, Timmy Trumpet, and Slander. At the time, it was unknown whether the second day of performances would be affected.
It's worth noting that the Gorge had recently made positive headlines as the site for the "Joni Jam," a concert featuring Joni Mitchell, and three Brandi Carlile concerts, all of which proceeded without incident.
